Best Niagara brunch spots

Looking for somewhere to grab a tasty brunch in St. Catharines or the Niagara Region? Check out our favourites.

Heading to an awesome St. Catharines’ brunch cafe is my favourite weekend treat, and there are some fantastic ones popping up! Catch-up with friends, celebrate a special occasion, or just kick back with the paper. Plus, you get to enjoy all your favourites from breakfast and lunch; piled-high fresh baked bread with eggs, bacon, pancakes perhaps, and quality coffee.

Here are our favourite spots for brunch in St. Catharines and the Niagara Region.

Bistro Mirepoix

Situated in mid-town St. Catharines, Mirepoix is a sweet little spot where you will find gourmet fare, tasty drip coffee, and lovely service. I love the food here. It is a local, seasonal, rotating menu that always impresses.

The Diner House 29

The Diner House 29 is a hidden gem in a small strip mall in mid-town St. Catharines. The totally cute and kitsch interior includes a wall of lovingly curated Pyrex dining ware, vintage formica tables and chairs in perfect condition, and retro posters advertising things like Alka-Seltzer and General Electric. However, the must-see interior is second to the tasty food they serve here.

Rise Above

Downtown St. Catharines’ dedicated vegan restaurant, Rise Above opens its doors on Sunday mornings for brunch. It is a cute, hip spot with tasty vegan dishes. However, make sure you book a table! It is very popular on Sundays for brunch.

Mahtay Cafe & Lounge

This laidback student boho cafe is a good spot for a casual brunch with friends. The food is tasty with gluten-free and vegan options, and the espresso coffee is quality fair-trade organic. They also boast the best breakfast sandwich in town, and they are licensed so you can enjoy a brunch mimosa or boozy coffee.

Revalee Brunch Cafe

Another favourite of mine, Revalee Brunch Cafe in Vineland has a hip modern interior and they serve great espresso coffee with beans from Pilot Coffee in Toronto. The menu is full of unique items and is divided into Omni and Vegan. Everything is priced the same to encourage guests to try something different without cost being a factor in their selection.

The Black Sheep Lounge

Edgy, hip Welland spot, The Black Sheep Lounge is a cool place to sit and enjoy a quality coffee. They roast their own beans here, as you can see from the coffee roasting equipment adorning the interior. The menu includes a selection of old-time brunch favourites and some unique items.
