We stopped by KaiserHaus recently for a Wednesday lunch with friends after a picturesque walk from Jaycee Gardens Park to Port Dalhousie’s waterfront.
As we crammed in the front door, we discovered a small row of sweet tables-for-two and a row of stools at the kitchen bench and realized we may not all fit. However, we were directed through an interior door to hip brewpub Lock Street, where we could spread out at a long table, enjoy KaiserHaus’ full menu, and Lock Street’s delicious brews. What a bonus!
KaiserHaus offers a small menu of delicious comfort foods, such as Goulash with homemade dumplings, traditional Potato Latkes, Schnitzel, and, of course, yummy Apple Strudel.
Thankfully for me, they were happy to serve the Goulash sans dumplings, making it gluten-free. It was rich, hearty and delicious.
My Chief Researcher sampled the Bratwurst on a Bun, served with horseradish remoulade and pickled onion.
Our party also sampled the Grilled Black Forest Ham & Cheese Sandwich, and the Schnitzel Sandwich, which was served on a toasted bun with pickled cabbage, cheese, mayo, and mustard.
All the food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meals. It was fresh and flavourful, and paired well with the beverages at Lock Street.
Just like Lock Street, KaiserHaus is open seven days per week. I look forward to a warm Sunday on Lock Street’s patio enjoying more tasty eats from KaiserHaus.
