Born and bred in St Catharines, Hometown Ice Cream is a lovely little spot to hit up for a decadent dessert or afternoon treat.
On the day we visited there were a number of unique recipes like carrot cake and some old favorites like classic chocolate, which my son loved (and I couldn’t help but do a “quality check” on – yum!).
However, I just had to try a classic Canadian flavor combination: Maple Walnut. The ice cream was creamy and full of flavor; no watery fake ingredients in sight.
As they mention on their website, the Hometown crew make all natural ice cream, sorbets and sherbets from scratch in their St Catharines shop without any artificial extras. This also means that the flavors without cake and cookies added are gluten-free.
The service was friendly (very patient with kids) and you can see the care and attention that has gone into the cute-as-a-button shop front.
There are also cookies and take home packs of ice cream available, and you can catch Hometown Ice Cream at a number of local events, which are listed on their website.
Whether you are looking for a fun spot to treat the kids or somewhere to enjoy yourself post-cinema or restaurant, Hometown Ice Cream is a tasty choice.
